Penn has been a pioneer in manufacturing fishing equipments and many people would definately know the reliability and toughness of the products from this company. Previously, Penn products are mainly made in USA but recently, some of their lower range gears started to be build in China and the quality seems to have deteriorate. Luckily, their main stream products are still manufacture in USA which is really a grade better than those china made ones.
Senator series has been around for many years and till now, there is not much model change on this series except for this narrow-bodied 4/0 113HN which was introduced in year 2005-2006. This senator is powerful with strong Versa-drag and one can feel its solidness once you handle it. No doubt, many anglers from all over the world has been using Penn to land big Marlin, enormous Sharks and many big fish over 100kgs and above. Despite of it, due to many new fishing equipment manufacturer coming out with better products in the market, the popularity of Penn has dropped since then. As for me, i still have lots of confidence with Penn USA products such as the Spinfisher SSM series, Penn Senator and last but not least their Penn International Series.
